The teaching and learning of science and technology is a core part of GSC's mission, and they are dedicated to working in partnership with teachers. Glasgow Science Centre offers primary and secondary curriculum linked activities to challenge and entertain pupils in a safe, stimulating environment. The education programme details activities which have been shaped by teachers to support science, technology, maths, ICT, geography and education for work. Staff of the laboratories give educational talks about cancer and cancer research to schools, Cancer Research UK supporters groups and other bodies. Over the year they have provided twelve one week work experience projects for senior school pupils They have also given talks and conducted laboratory tours for school and college students and teachers explaining state-of-the-art technologies used at the Beatson Laboratories and the different kinds of careers available in a research environment. SCBC offers advice, support and training for teachers, pupils and parents interested in Biotechnology. In conjunction with SSERC and SAPS we provide training in Safety for Microbiology and other courses that may support teachers CPD. The West of Scotland Branch of the BA wqas set up in September 2002.
