The University of Paisley

Innovation & Research office

The Universitys Innovation & Research Office is the gateway through which links are established between the Universitys diverse resources (specialist skills, expertise, facilities and capability) and external contacts in industry, commerce and public sector organisations. The Office exists to facilitate connections, both for University staff and for outside enquirers, and to offer prompt, informed advice on all aspects of the Universitys research, consultancy and commercial activity, ensuring that enquiries are targeted to the appropriate department, unit or individual with the minimum of delay.

The University of Paisley has a strong reputation as a provider of applied research and innovation, meeting the needs of industry and commerce, both locally and nationally.

The University is recognised for its work across many fields, from civil engineering and computing science to european studies and psychology. Links with industry, commerce, professional bodies and other research institutions play an important role in the University's work. Many projects continue to be applications-led and involve external collaboration and sponsorship.

Although much of the University's research work is carried out at Faculty, School or Division level there are an increasing number of recognised research groups, many interdisciplinary and include members from a range of academic divisions.

Research in the Division of Biological Sciences is relevant to the research community, and underpins and extends the quality of the student experience at Honours and postgraduate level. The applied nature of the Division's work attracts significant external funding and involves applications in biotechnology biomedicine and plant sciences and agriculture. The Division is supported by two industrial units namely:

The Biotechnology Transfer Centre
Centre for Environmental Waste Management.

These units provide a strong interface with industry and enable staff to contribute to critical industrial projects and applied research problems.
