The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Heath Care provides a centre of experience and knowledge at both pre-and post-registration levels for nurses, midwives and related health professionals. In the Mental Health Nursing Division current research interests include cognitive behavioural approaches with particular reference to early intervention for varying individuals within the categories of severe and enduring mentally ill. This encompasses solution-focused therapies and person-centred therapies. The midwifery division have interests in breast feeding and midwifery supervision and the Professional and Community Education division have research activity within diverse areas of practice including elderly care, theatre nursing, cardiac rehabilitation, nurse prescribing, palliative care and pulse oximetry.
