GOING DOON THE WATTER TO RAISE FUNDS FOR LEUKAEMIA RESEARCH

13 July 2004

Some of the biggest names in sport and entertainment have pledged their support for the Leukaemia Research Fund Centre campaign. David Coulthard, Michael Owen, Victoria Beckham and JK Rowling have all donated signed items to be auctioned at the Auchrannie Country House Hotel on Sunday 8th August.

The event is being organised by Arran-based Liz Armit who pledged to raise funds for the project when her husband, James, was diagnosed with myeloma.

The University of Glasgow is working with Leukaemia Research Fund to provide a major new research centre in the heart of Glasgow's medical community. The new Centre will be based at Gartnavel hospital and will serve patients throughout Scotland.

More than £1.9m has already been pledged of the £2.25m campaign total, taking us one step closer to making the Centre a reality. If you'd like to support the auction by heading down to Arran for the day, simply contact Liz at .

Don't forget that this year's LRF Glasgow Bikeathon will be held on Sunday 29th August – just contact the Development and Alumni Office for entry info or email .
