Controlled Therapeutics has won the Queens Award for Innovation in recognition of their work on pharmaceutical hydrogel for childbirth.
The concept for Propess(TM) was originally developed at The University of Strathclyde. The combination of the innovative retrieval system and the polymer has resulted in a product which has 80% of the US market.
The presentation coincided with the reopening of the company's refurbished laboratories and manufacturing facilities. The £1.4million project was supported by Regional Selective Assistance money from the Scottish Executive. The company is now working on a product to prevent early births.
