Babson-Kauffman Entrepreneurship Research Conference
Dates: Thursday 3 June to Saturday 6 June 2004
University of Strathclyde brings world's leading entrepreneurship research conference to Scotland for first time
The Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Strathclyde will this week host the Babson-Kauffman Entrepreneurship Research Conference (BKERC), attended by over three hundred delegates from 35 countries. The BKERC was founded in 1981 by Babson College in Massachusetts USA, the world's top-ranking college for entrepreneurship education. It is now the leading conference for entrepreneurship researchers in the world.
Dr Jonathan Levie, Director of the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship @ Strathclyde said: "Being asked to host the BKERC is an honour for the Hunter Centre and for the University of Strathclyde. What researchers report this week will help entrepreneurship educators, policymakers and entrepreneurs themselves in the years to come. Only last week Gordon Brown, Chancellor of the Exchequer, reminded us that Britain would have 1.8 million more businesses if the same proportion of people started a business in the UK as in the US. There is much we can learn from entrepreneurship in other countries and the BKERC is a tremendous opportunity to do this."
Professor Shaker Zahra of Babson College said: "The BKERC attracts the best and the brightest scholars in the field of entrepreneurship to exchange ideas, debate issues and learn from one another. It serves to disseminate cutting edge research on almost every aspect of the entrepreneurial process, making them accessible to scholars, entrepreneurs and public policy makers. We are proud to have Strathclyde University as our partner in this venture. Strathclyde's renowned faculty, international reputation and strong commitment to research and entrepreneurship make it an ideal place for the 2004 conference."
