The top life scientists and life science companies in the West of Scotland will have their achievements recognised at the first ever Nexxus awards next week.
A civic reception will be held at Glasgow City Chambers on Thursday, October 27, and the awards ceremony will highlight life science excellence in the following categories:

A panel of judges deliberated over the submissions before coming to a decision about the final winners, the names of which will be announced next week.
Among the invited guests at the civic reception, which is supported by Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, will be some of the most highly-regarded figures in life science from within academia, the NHS and industry, as well as representatives of support agencies including Scottish Enterprise.
Professor Chris Packard, Chairman of the Nexxus Steering Group, and Research and Development Director for the NHS Greater Glasgows North Operating Division , said: These awards will celebrate the great work being done in the life science arena in the West of Scotland, and weve been delighted with the quality and diversity of the submissions for these, our first, annual life science awards.
Glasgow and the West of Scotland is a centre of excellence for biomedical and life science research with researchers in this field contributing to improving the health of the population and to the knowledge economy of Scotland and were truly delighted to be able to highlight some of these contributions in groundbreaking research, patient care, and promotion of the community on the international stage through the Nexxus awards.
