New business start-up, Amici Procurement, in Fairlie has been set up to help specialist medical, veterinary and scientific organizations to make best use of their resources.
Amici Procurement will help companies and researchers all over the UK and Europe to source the supplies they need with the minimum of investment.
The Ayrshire location is ideal, according to Amici founder Caroline Briggs, as the specialist procurement function is all done online and over the telephone. This means that Caroline can help companies source technical equipment from some of the worlds most highly specialist suppliers, yet still leave the office for a walk along Fairlie beach at lunchtime.
Caroline is already highly skilled in procurement for life science companies, having worked with market leaders GlaxoSmithKline and Invitrogen.
She says, There are many companies out there doing ground-breaking scientific work who have limited time and resources to spend getting the best deal on everything from office supplies to highly technical equipment. Amici can save them both time and money. Just as importantly though, through my own specialized knowledge, Amici will make sure that clients get the best possible solution to whatever procurement challenge they are facing.
Amici Procurement also intends to help smaller companies achieve economies of scale by arranging consortium buying; offering discounts normally only available to bigger organizations. She is currently offering a flat fee of £20 or £50 to any small life science business with 1 - 5 employees or 6 15 employees respectively to allow them access to savings on non-production items such as stationery, travel and telecoms.
In addition Caroline offers an external training and mentoring facility for individuals responsible for procurement.
Her targets include research organizations working in life sciences, manufacturers and other suppliers of equipment, testing and services within the life sciences sector. A fuller description of the range of services on offer are outlined on her website www.amiciprocurement.com.
