The Scottish biotechnology company Link Technologies Ltd, in collaboration with Merck KGaA, Germany, announce the launch of OligoPrep - a nucleoside-loaded polyvinylacetate (PVA) solid support optimally designed for cost-effective large-scale oligonucleotide synthesis using standard phosphoramidite chemistry. The agreement confirms Link Technologies as a worldwide supplier of this product.
Large-scale oligonucleotide synthesis has now gained industry importance due to their proven and potential therapeutic use. OligoPrep has been designed to meet the criteria required for large-scale manufacturing such as low cost, efficient performance and environmentally friendly disposal.
Dr Stefan Vonhoff of Noxxon Pharma AG, Germany, will present results of the large-scale synthesis of an anti-ghrelin Spiegelmer® using customised OligoPrep at the TIDES Conference in Boston, MA, USA (May 1-5, 2005).
