ProPharma Limiteds new facility at West of Scotland Science Park is up and running with the aim to create up to 31 new jobs. A further 29 jobs have been safeguarded.
The Glasgow based company specialises in pre-clinical pharmaceutical formulation development and the manufacture of sterile clinical trial supplies. ProPharma was spun out of the University of Strathclyde in 2000, and Hamburg based Evotec OAI AG are now the majority shareholders of the business.
The company has been assisted by Scottish Development International and Scottish Enterprise Glasgow.
Enterprise Minister Jim Wallace said: I am delighted to welcome ProPharmas decision to site its new drug development and manufacturing facility at the West of Scotland Science Park. The safeguarding of 29 jobs and creation of a further 31 high value jobs alongside the significant investment in this new facility in Glasgow is excellent news as it brings valuable R&D capabilities to Scotland.
The availability of a skilled and reliable workforce has played a key role in Scotland winning this project and the West of Scotland Science Park continues to demonstrate its suitability as a location to a number of high growth technology companies.
I am particularly pleased that we have been able to support this project with an offer £600,000 in Regional Selective Assistance. I look forward to Scotland winning more projects like this in the future.
