Gillian Cay
Manager, Nexxus

Gillian is a marketing professional with a wealth of knowledge of the global biopharma industry and extensive experience of commercialising early stage technology across all aspects of life sciences. After leaving University, she worked for a number of SMEs, in a variety of sectors. In 1996, she joined the University of Strathclyde, as SME Marketing and Liaison Officer for the Strathclyde Institute for Biomedical Sciences. In this post, she initiated regular interaction between academic departments and SMEs, identifying training, research and recruitment needs in the West of Scotland. In 1999, she became Marketing Manager for the Strathclyde Institute for Drug Research (SIDR). In this role, she promoted the drug discovery research capabilities of the University of Strathclyde to the biopharma industry, and coordinated the international launch of PharmaLinks, the marketing vehicle created to promote the joint research strengths of the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde. Immediately prior to joining Nexxus, she took a career break and realised a lifelong dream to sail from Scotland to the Caribbean as Skipper of the sailing yacht Sulmar.

She has a BSc (Hons) in Immunology and Pharmacology, an MSc in Marketing and an MBA, with over eight years of technical marketing experience. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She also has considerable experience in event management.
